Photocopies of material obtained through the Australian Joint Copying Project. Includes writings on the early history of missions to the South Sea Islands, the first with particular reference to missions and missionaries, with special reference to the Rev. Charles Barff. The second is a copied manuscript on the life of Mr T. Blossom, written about 1847.

The Australian Joint Copying Project (AJCP) was established in 1945 by the signing of an agreement between the Commonwealth National Library and the Public Library of New South Wales to jointly microfilm material in the Public Record Office, London, relating to Australia. The scope of the filming later expanded to include New Zealand, the Pacific, South East Asia and Antarctica. William Richardson was born in Lanark, Scotland, on June 18, 1829. He worked in the mines from the age of ten, and after his mother's death moved often, living with his grandmother, father and stepmother, and aunt. In 1849 Richardson was baptized into the Mormon Church by Andrew Farguson (Ferguson). In 1851 he married Ann Walker (also called Joan Fatheringham) in Glasgow, and in 1856 the family left Scotland for the United States, settling in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
